Stolte and Rupp Honored for Academics

Earlier this season, Rupp scored a point in six consecutive matches from Aug. 31 to Sept. 19, and totaled seven points on two goals and three assists in a 6-0 win vs.
Rupp’s academic accomplishments include an All-WCC honorable mention citation in 2007 and three additional selections to the WCC Commissioner’s honor roll. Rupp is involved with Student Athlete Club Convocations and has received student-athlete academic honors for six semesters.
A four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at Pepperdine, Stolte is putting the finishing touches on a collegiate career that includes 21 victories, 229 saves, 13 shutouts and an 0.97 goals-against average – numbers that rank her among the top three all-time Pepperdine goalkeepers.
Stolte has battled through injury in 2008 to record five wins, three of which have been by shutout, in addition to making 62 saves. She has also played brilliantly in defeat, coming up with eight saves each time out in one-goal losses to #4 UCLA, #3
Stolte, a mathematics major, serves as the Pepperdine chapter president of the Mathematical Association of America and is a member of Pi Mu Epsilon, a math honor society. She also is a community service coordinator for the Pepperdine Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and is president of Sideline, which is a fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Stolte is a Dean’s Scholarship award winner was named Pepperdine’s Wave of the Year in 2005.
Pepperdine’s soccer season continues Sunday, Nov. 2 with a 1 p.m. match at Saint Mary’s. The Waves finish their season at home on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. vs.
The title of Academic All-America, one of the most prestigious in all of college athletics, is sponsored by ESPN The Magazine and organized through CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
To be nominated for Academic All-America, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
