CO-HEAD COACHES SHAWN PATCHELL & RYAN MILLAR
What do you like best about tomorrow's match-ups and what are your concerns?
Patchell: We are playing against a good team that has a lot of seniors. They have more experience in positions than we do, but I like our guys. We have improved since we last played UC Irvine. I like that about our team.
Talk about playing the late game.
Millar: I don't think it makes a big difference. The only thing is we have to wait longer during the day and that is not a big deal. The guys are going to come ready to play regardless.
Are you treating tomorrow's match as a play-in match for the NCAA Championships?
Patchell: We want to win the MPSF championship. Tomorrow is just a match to get to the finals. To get to the finals, we need to win this tournament. We can't rely on Pepperdine or anyone else. We need to take care of our side of the court.
Millar: If you think about it, every match is a match toward the final four. That is the way we have prepared for every match this year, not just this particular one. It is going to be exciting, to say the least. This is a nice stage for the guys to play volleyball in and they are very excited and so are we.
STUDENT-ATHLETE IVAN PEREZ
What has to go right for you to win tomorrow?
We need to serve and pass well. If we can do that, I think we will be in good shape.
What has contributed to you coming together toward the end of the season?
We are getting toward the end of the season and have learned from the things we had done wrong in our losses. If we want to win a national championship, we need to fix those little things and that just comes with playing. I don't think it is anything specific. We have a set of goals before every match and we have been able to accomplish more of those toward the end of the season than we were able to in the beginning.
