Men's Volleyball Goes 3-1 at Can-Ams

EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada -- The Pepperdine men's volleyball team won three of four matches at the Can-Am Challenge this weekend. The preseason exhibition series pits four U.S. universities against four Canadian schools.
On Friday, the Waves defeated Calgary (25-17, 25-21, 25-23) and lost to Alberta (25-18, 25-14, 25-7). On Saturday, Pepperdine defeated both McMaster (24-26, 25-22, 25-23, 25-22) and Trinity Western (25-18, 25-12, 38-40, 28-26).
Paul Carroll was the leading hitter in all four matches for the Waves and was named Tournament MVP. He had 15 kills against Calgary, 13 against Alberta, 24 against McMaster and 23 against Trinity Western. He averaged 5.4 kills per game and hit .452.
Cory Riecks averaged 3.9 kills. Jonathan Winder and Kasey Crider shared setting duties and averaged 10.6 and 9.0 assists per game, respectively. Tyler Jaynes also made the all-tournament team.
