Box Score
Malibu, Calif. - The No. 9 Pepperdine women's soccer team rolled over Denver 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at Tari Frahm Rokus Field in its second home match of the weekend. The game was an all-around team effort as Pepperdine's four goals and four assists came from different players on the field.
The Pioneers (3-5-3) proved to be a physical test for the Waves (8-0-1) in the first half and challenged Pepperdine several times in the box, but Denver could not find the back of the net.
After numerous breakaways for both teams, Pepperdine finally saw its chance and after a flurry of action in the box, senior forward Jenna Fodor tapped in the ball at the 43:02 mark to put the Waves on top 1-0. Junior forward Lindsey Redlin was credited with the assist. Denver attempted to even the score, but the half ended with Pepperdine up one goal.
The Waves took charge early in the second half, pressing Denver's defense and freshman forward Amanda Rupp scored her first goal of the season at the 55:26 mark. Freshman teammate Ashley Copp was credited with the assist.
Seven minutes later, Copp scored her first goal of the season at the 69:19 mark off of a corner kick from Fodor to put the Waves up 3-0.
Pepperdine was not finished scoring, however, as senior forward Megan Woods had a breakaway in an open net at the 87:17 mark and easily tapped in the Waves' fourth and final goal of the match.
Denver had several opportunities to get on the board, including two free kicks and three corner kicks, but senior goalkeeper Anna Picarelli, once again, came up big for the Waves and recorded her second shutout of the weekend, totaling three on the season. She collected five saves in the contest.
Despite the 4-0 score, Pepperdine only out-shot the Pioneers 15-13.
The 8-0-1 start for the Waves gives Pepperdine it's best-ever nine-match start in school history.
Pepperdine women's soccer looks to continue its winning streak on Friday, September 30, when the Waves face Utah at Tari Frahm Rokus Field begin at 3 p.m.
