Senior Chad Trammel turned in a time of 26:51 to win the eight-kilometer USD Cross Country Invitational and lead the Pepperdine men's cross country team to a first-place finish Saturday morning at Morley Field in San Diego.
The Waves captured three of the top eight spots in the race as freshman Timothy Hatters and sophomore Matt Jenks finished fourth and eighth, respectively. Hatters recorded a time of 27:57 while Jenks completed the course in 28:35.
In the women's six-kilometer race, sophomore Lauren Morales led the Waves as she placed 15th in a time of 24:34 to help Pepperdine place third behind Duke and Point Loma.
Freshmen Brieanna Carroll and Courtney Smith also turned in Top 20 finishes, placing 18th and 20th, respectively. Carroll completed the run in 24:45 while Smith turned in a time of 25:19.
Pepperdine is next in action in two weeks when it hosts USC, Cal State Northridge and Cal State Los Angeles in the Pepperdine Invitational in Malibu.
