Cross Country Sees Multiple Top-Ten Finishes at Biola Invitational

FULLERTON, Calif. – Pepperdine Cross Country wrapped-up its second race of the season this morning. The men's team earned 62 points in the 8K to earn silver in the standings. The women's team put up 228 points in the 5K—good for ninth.

The top finisher for the women was Lizzy Crawford (18:04.6) in fourth. The season is young, but the junior is already building an impressive resumé. In August, she was the individual winner in the Waves Invite (8/29). Her time today was good for seventh all-time in the Waves record book.

The next member of the blue and orange to cross the line was Riley Burgess at 19:48.9, placing her in the top-50.

On the men's side, Elijah Gentry followed up his strong performance from two weeks ago. From a field of 164 other prospective athletes he took second in the 8K at 24:12.9 (eighth all-time). This time trailed first by 1.8 seconds.

Gordy Nilsen and Patrick Thomas showed out for the Waves as well. At 24:25.7 and 24:39.0 respectively, the two both earned top-ten finishes (fifth and ninth). Additionally, their times today became the tenth and fourteenth best in the program's history.

Dominic Silhol and Rowan Nilsen also helped lead the charge for Pepperdine within the top-40. Silhol raced to a time of 24:57.0. Rowan followed suit at 25:34.0.

Biola earned the top on the women's side while Grand Canyon was the lone men's program to finish above the Waves.

The team next heads to UC Riverside for the UCR Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 27.
