RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Pepperdine Cross Country returns to the Inland Empire this weekend for the Highlander Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 18, hosted by UC Riverside.
The events will take place at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course, a course that the Waves ran earlier in the season.
"We are excited to return to Riverside this weekend" said Head Coach Lauren Floris. "The team gained a lot of good experience there a few weeks ago and are ready to attack the course even more aggressively this time. I expect big things from everyone, but the front end of our guys' team is especially ready to show out."
The first event begins at 8 a.m. for the men's 8K, and concludes with the women's 6K at 8:40 a.m.
48 schools in total will compete in the race, including Arizona, Arizona State, Cal Baptist, CSUN, Cal State Fullerton, Grand Canyon, Hawai'i, Long Beach State, San Diego, San Diego State, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UNLV, USC, and Utah Tech.

Pepperdine's last competition was the UC Riverside Invitational in September. Elijah Gentry broke the program's 8K record (23:59.9) to help the men's team finish seventh in the event.
Lizzy Crawford ran to a top-50 finish for the women (21:04.5) in the 6K. The final event was a women's open 5K. Kennedy Duralde led the way for the Waves (18:48.2).
The blue and orange return to competition Saturday, Nov. 1 for WCC Championships.
ABOUT PEPPERDINE CROSS COUNTRY/TRACK
The Pepperdine cross country/track program has a rich history dating back to the 1950s with six total individual national championships to come through the program. As one of the original three programs sponsored by then George Pepperdine College in 1937, the Waves immediately began to make a mark on the track world stage with eight total Olympians and multiple regional champions throughout the program's history.
