Pepperdine Baseball Hosts Second Annual Big League Golf Experience

The Second Annual Pepperdine Baseball Big League Golf Experience is scheduled for Monday, January 23, 2006 at Sherwood Country Club in nearby Thousand Oaks. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Pepperdine baseball program.
Registration and check-in is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. with a shotgun scramble start slated for 10 a.m. The cost is $850 per person or $3,400 for a foursome. The entry fee includes breakfast and lunch on the course, deluxe tee prizes, a caddy and major leaguer in each foursome and a post-tournament awards dinner.
The list of current and former major leaguers who attended last year's event included Bob Boone, Vince Coleman, Chili Davis, Matt Franco, Royce Clayton, Scott Erickson, Mark Gubiza, Charlie Hough, Tim Laker, Mike Liberthal, former Wave Noah Lowry, Kenny Lofton, Rob Nen, former Wave Rob Picciolo, Jesse Orozco, former Wave Mike Scott, Don Slaught, Steve Smith, Kurt Stillwell, Jim Tracy, Tim Wallach, Jeff Weaver, Todd Ziele and Bret Saberhagen.
Players expected to attend this year's event include Mark McGwire, Garrett Anderson, Tony Womack and Ryne Sandberg.
"We are honored and thrilled to be able to host this event at such a prestigious venue like Sherwood Country Club and feel fortunate to have been able to line-up such an attractive field of current and former major leaguers," third-year head coach Steve Rodriguez said. "Last year's event was a huge success and we are looking forward to another successful event this year with all the proceeds going to the Pepperdine baseball program."
