San Bruno, Calif. - Pepperdine senior forward Megan Woods along with junior forward Lindsey Redlin were named first team All-West Coast Conference (WCC) while senior goalkeeper Anna Picarelli garnered second-team accolades, the conference announced on Thursday.
Senior forward Jenna Fodor and sophomore midfielder Samantha Hire received honorable mention while rookie defender Ashley Copp was named to the All-Freshman team.
Woods, who earned first team honors for the second year in a row, has turned in a career-year in 2005 as she leads the Waves and ranks second in the WCC with 29 points. The senior from Carlsbad, California, has scored 10 goals and totaled a team-high nine assists.
Woods enters Friday's first-round NCAA Championships contest against Mississippi second in Pepperdine history in points (80) and goals (29) and is third in assists with 21.
Redlin has also turned in a career season from her natural forward position after being played in the back during the 2004 season. A resident of Reseda, California, Redlin ranks second on the team and third in the WCC with 27 points. She has scored a team-high 11 goals and been credited with five assists.
This season marks the first time Redlin has earned first team All-WCC honors after receiving honorable mention recognition as a freshman in 2003.
Picarelli, who ranks first on Pepperdine's all-time shutout and goals-against average lists, earned second-team all-conference honors for the second straight year. Picarelli, who has been a key reason why the Waves have posted a 13-3-3 record, has posted a 0.85 goals-against-average and totaled six shutouts to raise her career total to 30.5.
For the second time in her career, Fodor received honorable mention after totaling 14 points and tallying five game-winning goals.
Hire, who was named to the all-freshman team last season, has been a steady player in the midfield and has totaled five points.
Copp, who stepped into a starting position in the back, has been a solid contributor in helping the Waves register a 0.90 goals-against average and seven shutouts.
Pepperdine, which is making its fifth straight NCAA Championships appearance, will play Mississippi in an opening-round match at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex in Nashville, Tenn., Friday at 3 p.m. (PST).
