From the 2010 Hall of Fame program:

In the past dozen years that has seen the Pepperdine women’s golf program soar to tremendous heights, one player – Lindsey Wright – stands alone as a four-time All-American.

Wright was one several women’s golf standouts that has come to Malibu from Australia. She was one of the country’s top amateurs and competed for her homeland at such events as the Commonwealth Cup and the Tasman Cup.

In her four seasons at Pepperdine between 2000-03, Wright garnered All-American notice from the NGCA on the first team once (2003), second team twice (2001 and 2002) and honorable mention once (2000). She finished among Golfstat’s top 15 ranked players in the country every season: #3 in 2003, #8 in 2002, #10 in 2001 and #15 in 2000.

Though Wright won three individual titles during her stay at Pepperdine, including the 2000 and 2002 West Coast Conference Championships, her most notable finish was a tie for second place at the 2002 NCAA Championships. It was one of three top-10 showings she recorded at the NCAAs. She recorded a remarkable 28 top 10 finishes throughout her career and never placed outside the top three at the WCC Championships.

Wright holds the Pepperdine record for best career stroke average (73.44) and still owns three of the best single-season stroke averages in school history.

Wright helped Pepperdine to three WCC titles (she was an All-WCC first teamer all four years and the 2000 WCC Freshman of the Year) and four appearances at the NCAA Championships. The Waves finished in the top 10 three times, topped by a second-place result in 2003.

Earlier this year, she was named to WCC Women’s Athletics 25th Anniversary Team, which recognized the top 50 female student-athletes in league history.

She had an impressive amateur career away from Pepperdine as well, as in 2002 alone Wright took second place at the British Women’s Amateur, made the semifinals at the U.S. Women’s Amateur and joined with Pepperdine teammate Katherine Hull to take second place at the World Team Amateur Championships.

Wright turned professional following her senior season, and her first win was at the 2003 G.E. Futures Professional Golf Classic. She competed on the Futures Tour in 2004 and placed second on the money list, giving her an LPGA Tour card for the following season.

She has been in the running for a title at several majors, including a career-best second-place finish at the 2009 LPGA McDonald’s Championship. She also took fourth at the 2007 LPGA Championship and fourth at the 2009 Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Now in the midst of her sixth full season on the LPGA Tour, Wright has won more than $2 million in career earnings. She rose to as high as #12 in the Rolex world rankings during the 2009 season.

Wright, who goes home to Australia during the offseason, graduated from Pepperdine in 2003 with a degree in sports administration.
