Hall of Fame
From the 2008 Hall of Fame program:
Jason Gore has produced one of the top golf careers of any Pepperdine alum.
Â
He began his college career at Arizona, where he was a two-time medalist at the Pacific-10 Conference Championships. While at Pepperdine, he helped the Waves to the national championship as a 1997 senior and was named to an All-American honorable mention team that year. Also in his senior year, he won the USC Southwestern Invitational and tied for third at the NCAA Championships. He made the All-West Coast Conference first team in each of his two seasons with the Waves. He earned a spot on the 1997 Walker Cup roster.
Â
Gore ranks eighth all-time at Pepperdine with a 73.80 stroke average. In just two seasons, he had 19 top-20 finishes (tied for eighth all-time at Pepperdine) and 12 top-10 finishes (tied for seventh).
Â
He graduated from Pepperdine in 2000 with a degree in psychology.
Â
Before turning pro in 1997, Gore won the California State Open as an amateur (an event he won again as a professional in 2004). Since 2004, Gore has been a member of the PGA Tour and has played in more than 140 events. He won the 2005 Lumber Classic, and he also has one second-place finish, 10 top-10 finishes, and 23 top-25 finishes. He was also a participant in the 2005 U.S. Open and the 2006 PGA Championship.
Â
Gore was also a member of the Nationwide Tour, where he won six events: the Buy.Com New Mexico Classic in 2000, both the Albertson’s Boise Open and the Oregon Classic in 2002, and the Scholarship America Showdown, Cox Classic, and National Mining Association Pete Dye Classic in 2005.
Â
Gore and his wife Megan live in Valencia, Calif., and have two children, newborn daughter Olivia and 4-year-old son Jaxon. His plans for the future are simply to keep on playing golf and to take care of his family.
