RS FRESHMAN/2016: Appeared in 10 games as a relief pitcher in 2016 for the Waves ââ'¬¦ Posted a 7.15 ERA in 11.1 innings pitched and did not take a decision ââ'¬¦ Struck out seven batters ââ'¬¦ Tossed a career-high 2.0 innings twice on the season ââ'¬¦ Also posted a career-best two strikeouts on three separate occasions.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played four varsity seasons at Desert Vista High School, graduating in 2014 ââ'¬¦ Compiled a 1.20 ERA and .380 batting average over the course of his prep career ââ'¬¦ Had a 0.81 ERA as a senior to be named a Perfect Game All-American and All-Region ââ'¬¦ Team was runner-up to an Arizona state title in 2012.

CLUB: Played for the Chandler Reds from ages 13-15 and on the Diamondbacks scout team from ages 16-18 ââ'¬¦ Also played for 14U Team USA.

PERSONAL: Born in Phoenix, Ariz. to John and Patty Deutsch ââ'¬¦ Has a younger sister and brother ââ'¬¦ Plans to major in sports administration ââ'¬¦ Chose Pepperdine because of the, "Quality education, great location, and love the coaching for baseball."
