Women's Volleyball Prepares to Battle San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Pepperdine women's volleyball will conclude its Bay Area road trip tomorrow as the Waves will face the San Francisco Dons in the second WCC match of the season.

Pepperdine started off conference action with a heart-pounding five-set victory over Santa Clara on Thursday night, getting 18 kills from Maggie Beauer and another 13 from Chloe Pravednikov. Freshman Mariia Nikol Dvornikova chipped in with 11. The Waves defense piled up 24 blocks, as Irelynd Lorenzen racked up a game-high seven. The victory was Pepperdine's fifth consecutive, matching the longest win streak since Oct. 11-Nov. 8 last year, a nine-win streak.

Saturday's match, which is slated for a 12pm pacific first serve, will air on ESPN+. Live stats are also available. The blue and orange will return home for a pair of matches next week Thursday (vs. Pacific, 6:00 pm PST) and Saturday (vs. Saint Mary's, 1:00 pm PST), which is the program's alumni day.

Adelynn Legates was named West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week on Sept. 7
Sophomore outside hitter Petra Fritz was tabbed WCC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 21
Fritz's 195 kills pace San Fran and rank 2nd in the WCC and she's third in the league with 221.5 points
The Dons offense features a trio of players inside the top 20 in the conference, including freshman Katariina Korhonen (148 kills, 7th-most) and sophomore Emma Neukirchen(105 kills, 16th-most)
Korhonen is eighth in the WCC with 166.0 points
Junior Jordan Smart has the 7th-most assists in the conference with 266
Freshman Laura Amaro, who is from Brazil, ranks 8th in the WCC with 147 digs
