Women's Volleyball Readies to Open WCC Play at Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Coming off a sensational upset over USC to finish nonconference action, the Pepperdine women's volleyball team is ready to begin West Coast Conference play in the Bay Area this weekend.
Pepperdine visits Santa Clara on Thursday night before making a short trek to San Francisco to take on the Dons Saturday afternoon. Both matches will air on ESPN+. Live stats for the Santa Clara match are available here.
The Waves are 55-34 against the Broncos all-time, supported by a solid 24-18 road record. The squads split the season series last year but prior to that, Pepperdine had swept the season series in seven consecutive campaigns from 2018-2025. In that same timeframe, the Waves have swept the Broncos in nine matches, including four times in Santa Clara.
Pepperdine women's volleyball has reached 26 NCAA Tournaments since 1981 as one of the most successful collegiate programs on the West Coast. The 12-time WCC Champions Waves have consistently produced top talent with 21 All-American selections with honorees in six straight decades. With multiple Olympians going through the program, Kim Hill brought home the program's first gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games.

- Head Coach Erin Lindsey signed a five-year extension on December 12, 2025
- Opposite hitter Morgan Hayes won her second consecutive WCC Offensive Player of the Week award on Monday. She's had three 20-or-more kills performances and has hit over .300 on five occasions with double-digit kills each time.
- Macy Hinshaw won WCC Setter of the Week on Sept. 7
- Hinshaw, Cate Shanahan (no relation to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan), and Lexi Trapani all made the WCC Preseason Team; the trio tied with Pepperdine and LMU for the second-most preseason accolades, only behind WCC preseason favorite San Diego.
- Morgan Hayes paces Santa Clara with 232.5 points (leads WCC) and 209 kills (leads WCC)
- Hayes has a team-leading 469 attacks, while Shanahan has 417 attacks. No other Bronco has more than 183
- Trapani's 179 digs guide Santa Clara's defense; six Broncos have 16 or more blocks (Hayes, 28; Grace Flanagan, 27; Bryn Shankle, 26; Shanahan, 20; Allison Dzieciuch, 19; Macy Hinshaw, 16)
- The upset victory over No. 19 USC last Saturday was:
- the first time since September 13, 2013 that the Waves have swept a ranked opponent on the road (no. 19 Kentucky)
- the first road sweep of any opponent since Nov. 6 last year at Gonzaga
- the first sweep of USC since December 3, 2005 (a home match for Pepperdine)
- Pepperdine's highest-ranked road win since September 15, 2022 at No. 6 Minnesota
- The Waves currently have their longest win streak of the season (four consecutive wins).
- Pepperdine has yet to lose a match when taking the first set.
- The blue and orange have won five of seven matches in which Pepperdine has fewer digs.
- Junior setter Tristen Raymond ranks 2nd on the team with 79 digs, which is also 28th in the West Coast Conference.
- Her 396 assists lead the team and ranks 3rd in the WCC
- Defensive specialist Laine Briggs was absolutely sensational a couple of weekends ago, setting a career-high and a new Bluejay Invitational-best in digs with 35.
- Her 194 digs on the season pace the squad and slot 2nd in the conference.
- She earned her second consecutive WCC Defensive Player of the Week honor (third career) on Monday, Sept. 21
- Junior outside hitter Maggie Beauer tied a season-high in blocks (2.5) and digs (4) against Arizona on Sept. 6
- She also racked up a career-high 20 kills against Arizona, a five-set victory over the Wildcats
- Maggie's 110 kills are 2nd on the team, only behind Chloe Pravednikov's 130
- The Waves paced the West Coast Conference with 295 blocks last year, and returning junior Ella Piskorz led all conference qualifiers with 151 (next-best was 126).
- As of Wednesday (9-23-26), Piskorz ranks second in the nation with 71 blocks, only trailing Coppin State's Kayden Cupid (72)
- Among all the season-highs Pepperdine players set against Arizona on Sept. 6, Pravednikov was part of the brigade with a season-best 17 kills and 15 digs
- Chloe has the most points on the team with 145.5
