
Beach Volleyball Readies for Waves Tourney with Senior Day Saturday

MALIBU, Calif. — Pepperdine beach volleyball (19-11) will play its final four home matches of the season this weekend, with senior day set for Saturday from the Pepperdine Beach Courts. Concordia University Irvine (11-14), San Francisco (10-13) and Vanguard (7-12) will take part in the tournament, with the Waves matching up with each program.
The Waves will take on CUI (10 a.m.) and San Francisco (2 p.m.) Friday before battling San Francisco (10 a.m.) and Vanguard (2 p.m.) on Saturday.Â
Senior day festivities will take place following the final match on Saturday against Vanguard. The Waves will honor their seniors and graduate students Emma Bubelis, Emi Erickson, Kenzi McSpadden, Gabbie Perez and Julia Caruolo along with Scarlett Ferguson (TEAM Impact).

There will be two neutral site matches over the weekend:

The Waves are coming off a 3-1 weekend at the Islanders Classic this past weekend in Texas, earning wins over Louisiana-Monroe, Cal State Bakersfield and Tarleton State before narrowly falling to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Michaela Cyrani and Emma Eden have posted a 21-9 record this season at flight one while Gabbie Perez and Maddy Snow boast a team-best 22 victories with a 22-7 record at flight two. Alice Jagielska and Sonia Mancuso (16-8) have been strong at the No. 3 position, with Ginevra Merlini and Emi Erickson (17-6) also having a successful season as the fours.
Pepperdine has earned a pair of 5-0 victories over Vanguard this season, and have also earned a pair of wins against CUI already this spring. The Waves have yet to match up with San Francisco this season, but boast a 7-0 overall record against the Dons all-time.Â
The Waves will look to reach 20 wins for the eighth time in program history and third time since 2019 with a victory this weekend.
This weekend's tournament marks the final home contests for the Waves this season, as they will then conclude the regular season at the Stanford Tournament, held from April 17-18 in Palo Alto, Calif.

Established in 2011, Pepperdine beach volleyball quickly rose to national prominence, winning two national championships in three years (2012, 2014) while reaching the final four in five of its first six seasons. Joining the WCC ahead of the 2016 season with the sport becoming NCAA-sanctioned, the Waves won the inaugural and first three WCC Championships while reaching eight straight conference championship games from 2016-24. The program has consistently recruited top talent in the sport, with 21 student-athletes garnering All-American honors since 2012.
