This weekend will mark the first-ever matchups between Pepperdine and Seattle.
WHAT'S COOKIN' GOOD LOOKIN'?
After a brief slump, the Waves' offense has looked sharp in the last four games (Pepperdine has won three of them). The Waves have scored at least six runs in each of those four games, including 14 last Friday in a victory over LMU. Pepperdine will go up against a Seattle pitching staff that holds an ERA a tick over 6.00.
NO JOSHIN' AROUND HERE
Freshman Joshua Woodworth has been blazing hot in the batter's box as of late, sparking a successful Pepperdine offense. In the last five games, Woodworth has:
Right-hander Tommy Scavone will get the ball on Saturday for Pepperdine. The Waves have done well behind Scavone in his last several starts, winning five of his last seven outings. Scavone has gone at least 5.1 innings in his last six starts, including at least 6.0 innings in three straight starts from March 13-March 28. He improved his record to an even 3-3 after a victory over Pacific on April 11.
WINNING WITH WECHSBERG
Graduate pitcher Lucien Wechsberg has been one of the most reliable Waves' arms this season. In 20.1 innings, Lucien has recorded a 2.21 ERA along with a 1.33 WHIP. He has given up 18 hits while striking out 20. Opponents are hitting .240 off of Wechsberg, who has been involved in nine of the Waves' 14 wins (three wins, six saves). He has shined the brightest when runners are on base, allowing just a .179 opponent batting average (7-for-39).
Freshman catcher Shawn Romero made the memory of a lifetime on April 11 by hitting his first collegiate home run, which happened to be a grand slam. His long ball put the dagger in a 10-3 win for the Waves over Pacific. Romero has just 40 at-bats on the season but boasts a .383 on-base percentage and has tallied 6 RBI and 16 total bases.
NO WAY TREY
Outfielder Trey Dunn has stepped up in a big way at the dish this season. He has a team-leading six multi-RBI games thanks to his towering two-run homer last Friday night at LMU. He once paced the squad with a 12-game on-base streak that came to an end on March 31, but he has started a new streak by reaching base safely in 11 consecutive games.
MAD MAX
Catcher Max Aude has been consistent behind the plate and in the batter's box this season. Number nine is hitting .250 entering Sunday's clash with LMU and has been one of Pepperdine's best hitters with runners on base, recording a .375 average (12-for-32). He has been just as good with runners in scoring position, boasting a .444 average (8-for-18).
CORE FOUR
Daniel Patterson has been guiding the Waves' offense this season amongst a quad of solid offensive players. Patterson leads the squad with 15 multi-hit games, while Kai Laxa has 12, Julian Nunez has 11, and James Dell'Amico has 10. Patterson had a team-best 11 game hitting streak snapped over last weekend at LMU, while 'Delly' and Laxa once carried an eight-game streak of such. Patterson currently carries a team-high 13-game on base streak.
NASH CAN MASH
Freshman Nash Horton has made a great impact in the Waves' lineup this season, recording a .264 average through 72 at-bats. He has driven in seven, scored seven runs, drawn eight walks, and been hit by a pitch twice to post a .341 on-base percentage.
DAN IS THE MAN
Daniel Patterson has been putting up all-conference numbers this season, boasting a .301 average while rocking a .938 OPS. His nine home runs are part of a five-way tie for the second-most in the West Coast Conference. Of Patterson's 46 hits this season, 21 have gone for extra bases (11 doubles, one triple, nine homers), which is part of a three-way tie for the third-most in the conference. He has racked up 85 total bases so far in 2026, which slots in as the fifth-most in the WCC.
