No. 28 Men's Tennis Visits LMU, UC Santa Barbara to Conclude Regular Season

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Mid April has arrived and that means the men's tennis regular season is winding down. No. 28 Pepperdine men's tennis (14-8, 5-1 WCC) is set for a pair of weekend matches, first on Saturday at WCC cross-town rival No. 52 LMU (16-3, 4-2 WCC) before heading north for a nonconference battle against No. 35 UC Santa Barbara (16-5, 5-0 Big West) in the regular season finale.

Despite dropping the match against San Diego last weekend, Pepperdine moved up a spot to No. 28 in the latest ITA rankings. Lasse Poertner and Aleksa Pisaric also jumped to No. 89 in the doubles rankings. The Waves will look to get back in the win column and finish conference play strong, currently posting a 5-1 WCC record.

The Waves have found major success against the Lions, owning a 31-3 overall record against LMU. Pepperdine has taken each of the last five matchups, which are all shutout victories (5-0, 4-0, 4-0, 4-0, 4-0). The blue and orange had dropped three consecutive matches (one in 2018, two in 2019) prior to the new five-game win streak against the Lions. LMU is 16-3 overall this season with a 4-2 WCC record, but the Lions have dropped their last two meetings against No. 16 San Diego (0-4) and at No. 40 Santa Clara (0-4). LMU has dominated on their home courts in the 2026 campaign, going 11-1 at the LMU Tennis Center. The Lions do not have anyone ranked in singles or doubles. On the other hand for the Gauchos, Pepperdine has won 39 of 44 matches against UC Santa Barbara. The Waves have reigned victorious in four of the last five meetings, dropping the most recent one in 2025 (3-4). UC Santa Barbara is riding high right now, boasting a nine-game win streak heading into their matchup tonight against Cal Poly. The Gauchos are also flexing a 5-0 record in Big West Conference play and a 16-5 overall record. UC Santa Barbara presents a challenge in both doubles and singles play, including the No. 55-ranked doubles team of Miguel Avendano Cadena and Lucca Liu, in addition to ranked singles players Dominique Rolland (No. 57) and Liu (No. 89).
