No. 27 Men's Tennis Faces No. 11 Baylor in NCAA Super Regional

WACO, Texas - For the first time since 2013, No. 27 Pepperdine men's tennis is preparing for a Super Regionals. The Waves (19-9, 6-1 WCC) are set to battle the No. 11 Baylor Bears (24-9, 6-2 Big 12), with Baylor making its first Super Regionals since 2022. The match is scheduled for a 4:00 pm PT start.
Both squads met previously this season on March 15 in Indian Wells, California, a 1-4 loss for Pepperdine. Baylor was ranked eighth in the country at the time, while the Waves were ranked No. 27 at that time as well. The Waves and Bears have met one time in the NCAA Tournament, back on May 22, 2005, a 4-0 win for Baylor. Pepperdine is 4-11 against the Bears all-time and is seeking its first neutral-site win against Baylor (0-3).
The Bears' path to the Super Regionals included a 4-0 shutout of Tulsa before taking down No. 22 Auburn 2-1. Thanks to Pepperdine's win over No. 39 Michigan (4-2) and a thrilling upset at No. 7 LSU (4-3), Baylor is hosting the Super Regional.
The winner of the Baylor-Pepperdine match will face the winner of Texas-San Diego in the NCAA quarterfinals, which occurs on Thursday, May 14 in Athens, Georgia.

Devin Badenhorst, the Co-Big 12 Player of the Year, is ranked 10th in the country in singles play, while teammates Zsombor Velcz (51st) and Connor Henry Van Schalkwyk (53rd) are also in the ITA singles rankings. Velcz and Ion Alexandru Chirita are 69th in ITA doubles, while Luc Koenig and Van Schalkwyk slot in at 89th.
