MALIBU, Calif. — No. 9 Pepperdine women's golf sophomore Eunseo Choi is set to compete in the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur for the second straight year, set for April 1-4 in Augusta, Ga.
It marks the fourth time in which a Pepperdine women's golfer has earned a spot in the elite field as Choi will make her second consecutive appearance at the event. Teammate Jeneath Wong (2023, 2025) has also represented the Waves at the tournament.
The Augusta National Women's Amateur annually brings together the strongest field in women's amateur golf, featuring 72 players, with 48 of the top-50 in the current world WAGR set to compete this year.
"Eunseo is playing very well and ready to compete against the strongest field in women's amateur golf at the Augusta National Women's Amateur," said head coach Laurie Gibbs. "With experience from last year, she will be comfortable at Augusta National and is excited to be back. She has the game to make the cut and contend for the title on Saturday."
The championship begins with two rounds at Champions Retreat Golf Club on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by a practice round at Augusta National Golf Club on Friday. The participants will also play the famous Par-3 course at Augusta on Friday. The final round will be contested at Augusta National on Saturday, with a sudden-death playoff used if necessary to determine the champion.
The event, which debuted in 2019, features a 54-hole format with a cut to the top 30 players and ties after 36 holes.
The first and second rounds of the tournament will be broadcast live on Golf Channel (10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. PT) from Champions Retreat Golf Club. NBC Sports will produce and broadcast three hours (9 a.m.-Noon PT) of live final-round coverage of the event at Augusta National. Additionally, Golf Channel's "Live From the Masters" will commence on Friday, April 3 at Augusta National to provide coverage of the Augusta National Women's Amateur, the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals and the Masters Tournament.
Choi is scheduled to tee off at 5:00 a.m. PT on Wednesday and 7:07 a.m. PT on Thursday. She will be featured as part of Thursday's broadcast coverage.
Live scoring will be available throughout the championship at ANWAgolf.com.
Choi has earned four-straight top-15 finishes with the Waves this spring, highlighted by her second collegiate individual title at the Fresno State Classic, where she finished -6 (69-72-69) to also help lead Pepperdine to the team title. Dating back to the fall, she has placed top-10 in five of seven tournaments this academic year.
The Augusta National Women's Amateur was originally announced on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, by Chairman Fred Ridley during his annual press conference at the Masters Tournament. The event was established to inspire greater interest and participation in the women's game by creating a new, exciting and rewarding pathway for these players to fulfill their dreams.
Provided she remains an amateur, the Augusta National Women's Amateur Champion will receive an invitation to the next five Augusta National Women's Amateurs, the U.S. Women's Open, the AIG Women's Open, the Chevron Championship, the Evian Championship and any USGA, R&A and PGA of America amateur championships for which she is eligible for one year.
