CLAREMONT, Calif. –  Pepperdine track raced to a new program record in the men's outdoor 4K distance medley relay (DMR) while in eastern Los Angeles this afternoon.
ÂOriginally scheduled as a race for only Pepperdine's male runners, the women tagged along too in what was a welcome addition.
ÂThe men of Malibu had their strongest showing in the 4K DMR. The A-squad ripped off a first-place finish and program record. Elijah Gentry, Kian Alton, Parker Buchheit, and Gordy Nilsen combined for a 9:54.18 finish, besting the previous record of 10:21.18.Â
ÂIf not for those four the B-team would have earned the Wave record instead. Alex Nield, Giovanni Coronado, Beckett Sullivan, and Kaleb McElfish finished sixth at 10:20.19.Â
ÂHenry Hicks, Daniel Whitaker, Ryan Fabian, and Patrick Thomas earned eighth (10:25.69) to give the Waves three contingents in the event's top ten.
ÂThe top Wave in each event was as follows:
(W) 4x800: Leah Heckmann, Lacey Reedy, Jessica Guardino, Avery Smith (10:26.98)
(W) 100 dash: Tatiana Potter (13.33)
(M) 100 dash: Kian Alton (11.04)Â
(W) 100 hurdles: Blake Eecklor (17.37)
(M) 4K-DMR: Elijah Gentry, Kian Alton, Parker Buchheit, Gordy Nilsen (9:54.18)
(W) 3K: Jessica Guardino (11:39.69)
