MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine track will have a contingent of the roster make a pitstop at the Rossi Relays in Claremont, Calif. Feb. 28 before joining the rest of the team at the MPSF Championships in Reno, Nev. March 1 and 2.
"Our girls performed really well in Reno two weeks ago and gained a lot of confidence going into MPSF," said head coach Lauren Floris. "I'm looking forward to seeing how they do and wouldn't be surprised if we score our highest number of points at conference yet!"
The Rossi Relays are set to stream on FloSports for subscribers here, with Finished Results here. The event, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, begins at 8:30 a.m.
Look for Kian Alton to race hard in the 100-meter. He already set the program record in the 200-meter earlier this season. The rest of the men's team will look to make Pepperdine history in the 4K distance medley relay (DMR).
The MPSF Championships will be broadcast on RunnerSpace with separate streams for each day. March 1's link can be found here, with the following day's stream here. Record Timing will provide live event updates at this web address.
The Waves kick-off each day in the Reno-Sparks Convention center with the first day beginning at 3 p.m. and second at 9 a.m.
While in "The Biggest Little City in the World" Pepperdine's women have their sights set on program records in the 5K and 4000-meter DMR. This goal holds true in shorter events like the 4x400-meter relay and 800-meter.
Women's track is already acquainted with the course in Reno. Their Valentine's Day weekend at the Battle Born Classic saw two new program bests. Lizzy Crawford won the 3K in record-breaking style at 9:52.04. Ashley Eagan took the Waves 800-meter crown at 2:15.88. Each athlete had already set records during the season's first meet. It would be fortuitous if the streak were to continue this week.
The Waves next stop will be on the central coast for the UC Santa Barbara-hosted Gaucho Relays, March 7.
