VALENCIA, Calif. — No. 8 Pepperdine women's golf made up six strokes on fellow co-host UCLA to finish in solo second place at the Bruin Wave Invitational following Tuesday's final round.
The 2026 Bruin Wave Invitational Presented by Capillus was co-hosted by Pepperdine and UCLA at Valencia Country Club in Valencia, Calif.
The Waves shot +2 as a team on the day, finishing one-over par for the tournament as a unit. Three Waves finished in the top-11 individually, as
Kylee Choi (3rd) and
Eunseo Choi (T9) each earned top-10 finishes.
No. 1 Stanford set a tournament record, finishing 21-under par as a team to claim the team title. Stanford's Paula Martin Sampedro won the individual title at -7, making birdie on the 54th hole to earn the win, as she entered the final hole of the tournament one stroke ahead of Pepperdine's
Kylee Choi.
Three-under par (69) marked the low round of the day Tuesday, as the final round saw the highest average score for the tournament (76.63).
"Co-hosting the Bruin Wave Invitational with UCLA for 15 years has been a wonderful success," said head coach
Laurie Gibbs. "The hard work of so many has provided student-athletes from more than 50 DI programs an excellent competitive experience. Congratulations to Stanford, the Waves will be focused the next three months to join them again to compete at the NCAA Championship."
Kylee Choi finished in solo third place at -5 (71-70-70) for the tournament. Choi carded a 70 in Tuesday's third round behind three birdies on holes eight, 11 and 17, with just one bogey on the day.
Eunseo Choi logged a top-ten finish individually at -1 (73-71-71) for the tournament. Choi posted a one-under 71 in the final round, making her third birdie of the round on the 18th to go under par.
Jeneath Wong recorded a +1 (72-71-73) mark for the tournament, finishing tied for 11th. Wong carded five birdies on the day with four bogeys and a double bogey, getting in with a 73.
Yingzhi Zhu contributed a four-over 76 for the Waves to help push the team score past the Bruins for second place. Zhu finished +8 (71-77-76) for the tournament for a 22nd-place individual finish.
Grace Anderson finished in 35th individually, at +14 (77-76-77) across her three rounds. Anderson posted a five-over 77 in Tuesday's final round.
Competing individually,
Irene Kim &
Nishna Patel each finished at +17 for the tournament. Kim registered scores of 78-78-77 across her three rounds while Patel carded scores of 75-81-77.
