Women's Golf's Eunseo Choi Receives Augusta National Women's Amateur Invitation

MALIBU, Calif. — Pepperdine women's golf sophomore Eunseo Choi has received an invitation to the Augusta National Women's Amateur (ANWA) for the second consecutive year. The tournament will be held from Apr. 1-3 in Augusta, Ga.

An international field of 72 women amateurs will compete in the tournament over 54 holes of stroke play. A cut will take place after 36 holes, advancing the leading 30 players and ties to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club.

"Eunseo enjoyed playing in the Augusta National Women's Amateur as a freshman last year," said head coach Laurie Gibbs. "She has worked hard over the past year with the goal of returning to ANWA. We are very proud and excited for her to compete again in this prestigious tournament and meet the challenge of competing against the top amateurs from around the world."

Choi currently sits at No. 36 in the Scoreboard individual rankings after finishing top-20 in each of Pepperdine's three fall tournaments, including a pair of top-10s. Choi led the Waves at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, finishing tenth at one under par, highlighted by a 3-under 69 in the second round. She went on to place ninth at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic before finishing 20th at the Stanford Intercollegiate at one under par for the tournament. Choi finished the fall with a 70.78 scoring average.

Her 2025 spring season saw her earn WCC Freshman of the Year while posting a tenth-place finish at the WCC Championships. She went on the place ninth at NCAA Lexington Regional at two under par, with a 66 in the second round marking a new program record for low round at an NCAA Regional. Her World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) currently sits at No. 58.

"I am honoured to be invited to compete in the Augusta National Women's Amateur again this year," said Choi. "Having had the chance to compete last year against an amazing level of competition was a memorable experience. I will have added confidence and motivation to enjoy the moments more this year. I am looking forward to testing my game and embracing everything this tournament presents. Being able to represent myself, but also Pepperdine and Golf New Zealand makes the opportunity even more meaningful and for which I'm truly grateful."

The tournament was created by Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley in 2018 to inspire greater interest and participation in the women's game by creating a new, exciting and rewarding pathway for players to fulfill their dreams.

The first 36 holes will be contested over two days on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., April 1 and 2. The entire field will then play Augusta National for an official practice round Friday, April 3. The final round will take place at Augusta National on Saturday, April 4 and will feature the competitors who made the cut.

The first and second rounds of the Augusta National Women's Amateur will be broadcast live on Golf Channel (1:30-3:30 p.m. ET) from Champions Retreat Golf Club. NBC Sports will produce and broadcast three hours (Noon-3 p.m. ET) of live final-round coverage of the event at Augusta National.

The Waves will kick off the spring season at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge from Feb. 1-3 in Palos Verdes, Calif. The Waves begin the 2026 campaign ranked No. 9 in the Scoreboard team rankings.
