SAN FRANCISCO — Pepperdine women's tennis sophomores Anastasiia Grechkina and Alexia Harmon won the doubles title with Grechkina also claiming the singles crown at the Battle in the Bay Classic hosted by the California Tennis Club and Cal this week.

It marks a strong start to the fall season for a young Waves squad, having totaled a 12-2 record across all matches this week.

The duo of Harmon & Grechkina went 4-0 in doubles to open the fall season, defeating Arizona's Haylee Conway and Zoya Chulak in a tiebreak in the final to earn the tournament title. The Waves took down pairs from TCU, Cal Poly and Oklahoma State on the way to the final.

Grechkina went 5-0 in singles to also earn the singles crown, taking down Oklahoma State's Rose Marie Nijkamp in two sets in the final. Grechkina did not drop a single set throughout the week across all matches. Harmon was also a quarterfinalist, winning her first two singles matches while Liam Oved earned a first round victory on Thursday.

The field for the tournament included athletes from Pepperdine, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Sacramento State, San Jose State, TCU, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, USC and Washington State.

Pepperdine women's tennis has been a consistent powerhouse in the collegiate scene, reaching 40 NCAA Tournaments since 1982 including 28 straight appearances.
