BERKELEY, Calif. – Pepperdine women's soccer (0-2-1) takes a quick trip north to face California, Berkeley (2-0-1) Sunday afternoon at Edwards Stadium.

"Vicious opponent number five, otherwise known as Cal, is going to be excellent,"
Head Coach Tim Ward said. "We want to see if we can take the next step as a team as we head up to the Bay Area this weekend."

- The Waves played the No. 5 USC Trojans, battling tough in a 3-2 loss.
- Julia Quinonez and Peyton Leonard scored the two goals for Pepperdine.
- Ariana Markey earned her second assist in two games on the first goal of the night.

- Three games into the season, Tatum Wynalda leads the Waves with three points, garnering an assist at TCU and a goal against Hawai'i.
- Wynalda played in all 21 matches last year, making 17 starts.
- As the leading returning offensive producer for the Waves, Tabitha LaParl tabbed six goals and two assists last season. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Through her career, LaParl has amassed 10 goals and nine assists over her career with 49 caps.
- In her completed three seasons, Wynalda has scored 18 goals with seven assists through three years.
- The Waves are coming off a 2024 season which saw the program's fifth WCC Championship after finishing (6-1-3) in the conference. The title was split with Santa Clara who posted the same mark in the WCC.
- Pepperdine returns nine of the starting 11 from last season.
- The last time the program won back-to-back conference titles was 2016 & 2017 as Pepperdine looks to win the WCC outright for just the second time ever.
- Thursday night, Ward will look across at the Trojan squad to see his daughter, Charlotte, who is a freshman at USC.

- Â In eight matchups, the Waves are 1-2-5 overall against the Golden Bears.

- Cal has started the season 2-0-1 with wins over UC San Diego and WVV-fore San Francisco.
- Both wins were with 3-2 finals, with Lumi Kostmayer being the sole Golden Bear netting multiple goals with two.
- Head Coach Neil McGuire just secured win 200 at Cal with the 3-2 result against San Francisco last time out.
