Women's Golf Finishes 2024-25 Campaign with Ninth Place Finish in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Pepperdine women's golf team finished the 2024-25 campaign with a ninth place finish at the NCAA Lexington Regional on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The 40th-ranked Waves finished in 9th at 14-over after posting a three-day total of 878 (305-284-289) at the 6,095-yard par-72 Keene Trace Golf Club. #3 Florida State (849), #34 Georgia Southern (854), #28 Kansas State (854), #9 USC (857) and #22 Vanderbilt (866) respectively finished in first through fifth and all advanced to the NCAA Championship.
 
A day after setting a new program record for the lowest 18-hole score by an individual at an NCAA Regional (-6), freshman Eunseo Choi fired off a bogey free 3-under 69 to finish tied for 9th and earn the Waves 19th-ever individual finish in the top-10 at an NCAA Regional. Lauren Gomez recorded her best round of the week with a 2-under 70 as she finished tied for 13th and earned her second top-20 finish at an NCAA Regional.
 
This season, Pepperdine made an NCAA Regional for the 26th consecutive tournament, won the Silicon Valley Showcase and finished in the top-three in six of the 11 tournaments. Individually, the Waves took home two tournament victories as Choi won the Silicon Valley Showcase and Gomez won the Branch Law Firm Dick McGuire Invitational. Additonally, Choi garnered the West Coast Conference (WCC) Freshman of the Year award, while she, Gomez and Jeneath Wong all made the All-WCC team.

  • Freshman Eunseo Choi (Auckland, New Zealand) carded a bogey free 3-under 69 in the final round to collect her second round under par at the NCAA Lexington Regional. She finished tied for 9th with a three-round score of 214 (79-66-69) (-2) as she earned her third top-10 finish of the year and collected the Waves 19th-ever individual finish inside the top-10 at an NCAA Regional.
  • Senior Lauren Gomez (Murrieta, Calif.) posted a 2-under 70 with four birdies as she finished tied for 13th with a three-day total of 215 (73-72-70) (-1). The four-time All-WCC first team award winner finished her career with another finish in the top-20 at an NCAA Regional, having previously finished T-7th at the 2024 East Lansing Regional last season.
  • Junior Jeneath Wong (Melbourne, Australia) shot a 5-over 77 in the final round. Wong finished the tournament tied for 46th at 10-over with a total score of 226 (76-73-77).
  • Junior Yingzhi Zhu (Nanjing, China) finished her tournament with a 3-over 75 on Wednesday. Zhu ended the regional tied for 52nd with a three-round total of 228 (80-73-75) (+12).
  • Freshman Grace Anderson (Burlington, Ontario, Canada) finished in 61st with a three-day score of 233 (77-81-75) (+17). She carded a 3-over 75 with two birdies in the final round.
