Jessup closed on a 5-1 run, capitalizing on two late Pepperdine attack errors to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The Waves evened the match with a 25-18 win in the second set, riding a fast start and strong serving from Barnett, who tallied two aces and multiple kills. Hartke added his own slew of kills and an ace. Pepperdine pulled away with a key 6-1 run, helped by Jessup's service errors and a block from William Whidden and Dyer. Pepperdine's depth proved too much in a dominant set, leading to the 1-1 tie up.

Pepperdine quickly regained control in the third set, as errors from Jessup helped Pepperdine extend their lead to 12-7. Barnett's kills and Brendan Read's two aces pushed the momentum further, and Pepperdine closed out the set 25-13 with a service error from Jessup to go up 2-1.

The Waves fought through an early deficit in the fourth, falling behind 5-1 after a string of errors and kills. After calling a timeout, Pepperdine responded with a kill from Hartke, but Jessup maintained control, extending the lead to 14-7. Pepperdine chipped away with another service ace from Read and capitalized on Jessup's errors to cut the deficit to 16-12. Barnett's time at the service line and Hartke's approach at the net fueled a late surge, helping the Waves tie the set at 22. After trading points, Barnett's kill and a Jessup attack error gave Pepperdine set point. Hartke sealed the comeback with a final kill, giving the Waves a 26-24 win and closing out the match 3-1.
