PALM DESERT, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's golf team finished the first round of the Alice & John Wallace Women's Golf Classic tied for fifth after a 6-over 290 today.
 
Grace Anderson and Lauren Gomez are both tied for 11th and even-par through 18 holes. They are two of 19 players in the 120-player field to shoot even-par or better today.
 
#5 Oregon is in first after tallying a 276 (-8). #3 USC and #38 San Jose State rounded out the top-three with respective scores of 283 (-1) and 286 (+2).
 
PLAYER SCORES

• Freshman Grace Anderson (Burlington, Ontario, Canada) carded an even 71 and is tied for 10th. She was 2-over through 12 holes, but finished with two birdies over her last six holes. Anderson tabbed three total birdies today.
• Senior Lauren Gomez (Murrieta, Calif.) is also tied for 10th after an even 71 with three birdies today.
• Junior Jeneath Wong (Melbourne, Australia) earned a 1-over 72 and is tied for 20th. Wong tallied three birdies in her opening round.
• Freshman Eunseo Choi (Auckland, New Zealand) posted a 5-over 76 with one birdie and is tied for 62nd heading into the second round.
• Junior Yingzhi Zhu (Nanjing, China) is tied for 87th after a 8-over 79.
• Playing as an individual, senior Nishna Patel (Mumbai, India) posted a 7-over 78 and is tied for 80th. Patel recorded one birdie today.
