RECAP
Saint Mary's struck first, but Olvera, Todorovic and Butka all connected within 30 seconds of each other to go up 6-3 early. Both squads made things tough inside the paint, battling for boards and resulting in free throws. The Waves were stalled from the field and the three however, seeing the Gaels connect on similar shot selection while the latter pulled ahead as a result. Pepperdine headed into the locker rooms at a 35-22 deficit.
The Gaels opened the second half on a 6-0 run of their own and extended the lead with creative shot selection. Pepperdine would trade buckets with SMC but the Gaels bigs proved too much for the Waves' post game, ballooning to a 74-50 final.
