Lynn Williams Elevated to Olympic Roster

MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine women's soccer alumna Lynn Williams ('15) has officially been elevated to the 18-person national team roster two weeks ahead of opening ceremonies for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the United States Women's National Team announced Friday.

Williams will be participating in her second Olympics with her first appearance coming in the 2020 Tokyo games. Leading the National Women's Soccer League in goals as a member of NJ/NY Gotham FC with 79 total, she will be playing alongside fellow forwards Crystal Dunn (NJ/NY Gotham FC), Trinity Rodman (Washington Spirit), Jaedyn Shaw (San Diego Wave FC), Sophia Smith(Portland Thorns FC), and Mallory Swanson (Chicago Red Stars).

As one of the more seasoned players on the roster, Williams brings 63 caps and 18 international goals to the team. In Tokyo, Williams made three caps including two starts in the team's road to a bronze medal. Most recently, in the 2024 Women's CONCACAF Gold Cup, Williams scored one goal and made four appearances in the team's road to winning the inaugural tournament.

"Lynn's inclusion on the Olympic team is so richly deserved," Pepperdine women's soccer head coach Tim Ward said. "Lynn's professionalism, leadership, and sacrificial attitude is something that all of us here at Pepperdine know about. But when you partner that with her consistent excellence both with the USWNT and in the NWSL, we believe that she was an obvious choice to represent our country at these Olympic Games!"

The team will play two friendlies domestically before traveling to Paris for a July 25 match against Zambia to open group B play.
