Eight Waves Earn WCC Postseason Awards

MALIBU, Calif. - Eight from the Pepperdine beach volleyball team earned West Coast Conference postseason recognition, highlighted by first team selections for Kristine Briede, Kate Clermont, Madison Oriskovich and McKenna Thomas as well as Freshmen of the Year for Kaydon Meyers.

In addition to the All-WCC first team honors and Freshman of the Year, Gabriella Perez and Sarlota Svobodova garnered second team nods and Maya McNabney and Meyers were named to the All-Freshman team. Â

Along with this year's first team selection, Briede (Balozi, Latvia) had garnered All-WCC second team honors in 2023. This season, she played primarily in the No. 2 position, collecting a team best 27-11 overall record playing alongside Oriskovich in all her matches. Briede and Oriskovich won WCC Pair of the Week on April 1.

This was Clermont's second first team selection as she made the All-WCC first team last year as well. Clermont (Burlington, Ontario, Canada) was also a member of the WCC All-Freshman team in 2022. This season, she marked a 24-14 overall record playing all her matches in the No. 1 position mainly alongside partner Thomas. Clermont and Thomas won WCC Pair of the Week on March 11.

Primarily playing on court two, Oriskovich (Santa Barbara, Calif.) notched a team best 27-11 overall record playing alongside Briede. In addition to this year's first team selection, she made the All-WCC second team in 2023. Oriskovich and Briede won WCC Pair of the Week on April 1.

In addition to garnering All-WCC first team honors this year, Thomas (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) earned All-WCC first team honors in 2023. In 2022, she earned AVCA Top Flight honors, WCC Co-Freshman of the Year and made the WCC All-Freshman team. Playing all her matches in slot No. 1 alongside partner Clermont, Thomas collected a 23-13 record in addition to winning WCC Pair of the Week on March 11. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â

Meyers (Scottsdale, Ariz.) made an immediate impact for the Waves as a freshman. She had a stellar year and won WCC Freshman of the Year in addition to making the All-Freshman team. Mainly playing on court four, Meyers posted a record of 17-21 in her freshman campaign.

Perez (Loomis, Calif.) had a solid sophomore year as she made the All-WCC second team after making the WCC All-Freshman team last year. She notched a 21-17 overall record playing alongside Svobodova in most of her matches in slot No. 3. While on court three, she went 20-15.

After earning plenty awards as a Chanticleer, Svobodova (Brno, Czech Republic) quickly showed her dominance after transferring in from Coastal Carolina and made the All-WCC second team in her first year as a Wave. She marked a 19-15 overall record, and a record of 19-13 primarily playing on court three.

In her freshman campaign, McNabney (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada) made the WCC-All Freshman team after posting a record of 12-7 in the slot No. 5.

Pepperdine finished the season with a 22-16 record and reached the West Coast Conference Championships final for the ninth-consecutive season.
