LOS ANGELES — The #43 Pepperdine men's tennis team took care of business against their crosstown rivals, sweeping the LMU Lions 4-0 at the LMU Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

With the result, the Waves (8-10, 2-1 West Coast Conference) got back in the win column and won another point for Pepperdine in the PCH Cup rivalry series with the LMU Lions (9-9, 2-3 WCC). This is Pepperdine's fourth-consecutive win over their crosstown rivals and the 30th all-time victory in the series.

Pepperdine clinched the doubles point by winning all three doubles matches by virtue of the teams on courts two and three clinching simultaneously. First, Linus Carlsson Halldin and George Davis got back in the win column with a 6-4 win over Sebastian Nothhaft and Arthur Pantino at the first position, then Chris Papa and Zach Stephens won their second WCC doubles match and clinched the doubles point for Pepperdine with their 6-4 win over Yassine Smiej and Max Wuelfing. At the same time, Edward Winter and Pietro Fellin beat their opponents on court two with another 6-4 win.

In singles, Pepperdine won all of its matches in straight sets and all six players won their first sets. Robert Shelton gave Pepperdine a 2-0 lead thanks to his 6-3, 6-0 win over Wuelfing — Shelton's former teammate — at the fifth position, then #38 Edward Winter picked up his second WCC singles win with his 6-3, 6-3 victory over Arthur Pantino at the first position.

For the third time this season, Pepperdine true freshman Zach Stephens clinched the match for the Waves with his 6-4, 6-2 win on court six. When Stephens clinched, Pepperdine had leads on the remaining three courts.
