
Waves Set for WCC Championships

MALIBU, Calif. — The Pepperdine men's golf team will begin the postseason push with the West Coast Conference Championships. The Waves have won a league-best 22 conference titles overall.

EVENT INFO — The WCC Championships will be held at the par-72, 7,095-yard Gold Mountain Golf Club - Olympic Course in Bremerton, Washington. There will be 18-holes of golf each day Friday through Sunday (April 26-28).Â

The Waves will be paired with San Francisco to begin the first round at 8:20 a.m. on Friday. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat with links found on www.PepperdineWaves.com

FIELD — In addition to Pepperdine, seven other schools sponsor men's golf: Gonzaga, LMU, Pacific, San Diego, San Francisco, Saint Mary's and Santa Clara. USF is second in the league with 11 WCC titles.Â

EVENT HISTORY — Pepperdine's 22 WCC titles have all come since 1987. The Waves have finished either first or second in 27 of the last 34 overall tournaments contested. Pepperdine has also produced the medalist in three of the last five tournaments, and 14 in all.

PEPPERDINE LINEUP — Pepperdine's lineup consists of sophomore Mahanth Chirravuri (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton HS/USC), freshmen Kristoffer Kuvaas (Houston, Texas/The Village School) and William Walsh (San Mateo, Calif./Juniper Serra HS) and sophomores Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif./Jesuit HS) and Joshua Koo (Cerritos, Calif./Cerritos HS/Washington).

LAST TIME OUT — The Waves last competed at the 77th annual Western Intercollegiate, placing 10th out of 14 teams. Pepperdine shot a 1,093 (370-355-368) in the play six, score five tournament. Mahanth Chirravuri had a stellar first two rounds, sitting in second-place for a majority of the tournament. He finished tied for 21st with a 214 (68-69-76). Kristoffer Kuvaas was tied for 25th to end the tournament.

RANKINGS — Pepperdine is ranked #54 in the Clipp'd national rankings this week. Mahanth Chirravuri is ranked #56 in the individual rankings.

SPRING EFFORTS — This Spring, the Waves have finished in the top-10 in four of their six tournaments played thus far.  The squad won the Saticoy Showdown in March, while finishing tied for eighth at the Amer Ari Invitational in Waimea, Hawai'i and eighth outright at The Goodwin in Palo Alto, Calif.
