SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Pepperdine beach volleyball team faced off with a pair of nationally ranked competitors to continue the Center of Effort Beach Volleyball Challenge at Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex on Saturday, where #7 Long Beach and #4 Florida State took the matches.
The Waves faced #7 Long Beach for their first match of the day, and the Beach was able to sweep, 5-0. The squad then took on #4 Florida State where in the No. 2 position, Madison Oriskovich and Kristine Briede secured a point for the Waves, but the team ultimately fell to the Seminoles, 1-4.

MATCH RECAP
To start the morning, Pepperdine took on #7 Long Beach, where in the No.1 position, McKenna Thomas and Kate Clermont would battle in a tough 20-22 first set. In the No. 5 position, Aubrey Roberts and Emi Erickson also competed in a tight 19-21 first set. The Beach was ultimately able to take first-set wins on all five courts and keep the energy to secure the sweep.
In their second match of the day, the Waves competed against #4 Florida State, where in the No. 2 position, Madison Oriskovich and Kristine Briede were able to secure a point for the squad in a two-set match. In a three-set bout in the No. 3 position, Gabriella Perez and Sarlota Svobodova took the first set, 21-18, but were unable to finish out the next two.
The Seminoles took the other courts in two-set victories, earning a 4-1 team win.
