Women's 1,500-Meter Runners, 4x100 Relay Highlight the Bryan Clay Invitational

AZUSA, Calif. — Competing in one of the biggest collegiate track and field meets on the West Coast, the Pepperdine track team ran five new top-10 times at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific on Saturday.
The women's 1,500-meter run highlighted the individual events, as Abby Winter, Hannah Bruner, Elle Shrader and Megan La Camera ran new top-10 times, while both women's 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams ran season-best times. The women's 4x100 team of Kaley Peterson, Isabella Reyes, Ava Maly, and Mia Skuraton became the first Pepperdine relay team to break the 48-second barrier for the first time since 2017 with their time of 47.97, which is the third-fastest time in program history.
The distance crew started the meet off on a high note in the open heats of the 5,000-meter run on Saturday morning. On the men's side, Dominic Silhol ran the fastest time of the day with his 14:59.08, marking the second time he has gone sub-15 this season. For the women, Shrader led the Waves with her time of 17:50.46. Also running the event, Elizabeth Crawford was the closest to running a personal best, as her time of 18:13.62 was less than three seconds off her collegiate personal best time of 18:11.17.
Elsewhere in the distance events, Pepperdine's quartet of Winter, Bruner, Shrader and La Camera took advantage of competitive heats of the 1,500-meter runs to all run new top-10 times in the event. Winter was the fastest of the group with a 4:35.75, which was not only less than a second off the winner of her heat, but also the sixth-fastest time in program history. Bruner's 4:44.78 was a slight improvement over her previous personal best and was good for eighth all-time at Pepperdine, while Shrader (4:45.95) and La Camera (4:46.14) ran the ninth and tenth-fastest times in program history, respectively.
Caroline Graham's 800-meter dash time of 2:16.15 from Friday night rounded out Pepperdine's new top-10 marks from the meet. Her time was good for fifth in her heat.
For the men in the same event, Gordon Nilsen led the way with his time of 4:00.86. Rounding out the distance events was Johnathan Flint, who was Pepperdine's lone 10K runner with a time of 30:42.48.
Pepperdine's women's 4x400-meter relay team of Kayla Renner, Hannah Miller, Kelly Prunzik and Skuraton wrapped up the sprinting events by running a season-best time of 4:03.88.
