LAS VEGAS, Nev. – After 36 holes at Spanish Trail Country Club on Monday, sophomore
Jeneath Wong holds a share of the lead at The Show, having shot a 6-under 138 (70-68). The Pepperdine women's golf team is in third-place heading into the final round tomorrow after having marked a 2-over 578 (291-287) collectively.
Three Waves are in the top-25, led by Wong and junior
Lauren Gomez who is tied for sixth. Wong, as well as senior
Kaleiya Romero, each posted eagles in the first round with Wong's coming on the 18
th and Romero's on the third.
Despite a somewhat slow start in the first few holes of the day, Pepperdine rallied quickly to end the first round in third with Wong and Gomez in the top-10. The Waves continued on that trajectory in the second round, posting a better second 18 holes than any other team competing.
#23 Pepperdine is four shots out of the lead, which is held by #3 UCLA, and three shots behind #29 SMU. The Waves lead #24 Virginia by five strokes and #27 Purdue by eight.
The Waves will continue on paired with the Bruins and Mustangs tomorrow at 8 a.m. The trio of teams will begin on holes one through three.

- Sophomore Jeneath Wong (Melbourne, Australia) is tied for first with a 138 (70-68). She posted an eagle on the 18th and birdied twice in her last four holes to finish the first round 2-under. She then tied for the best round of the day in the second, posting four birdies in her first 10 bogeyless holes. She finished strong by picking up another birdie on the eighth and shooting for par or better in her final seven holes. Wong tabbed seven birdies and an eagle in total today.
- Junior Lauren Gomez (Murrieta, Calif.) is tied for sixth with a two-round score of 142 (72-70). She totaled seven birdies through 36 holes today. In the opening round, she rallied from a few bogeys early on to finish with three birdies in her final errorless 12 holes. She continued strong in the second, marking three birdies in her first four holes. She birdied again on the first hole and finished out the round with eight-consecutive pars.
- Senior Lion Higo (Gold Coast, Australia) shot a 148 (73-75) to tie for 23rd today with six birdies. She had a stretch of seven holes with four birdies and not a single bogey over the turn in the first round.
- Senior Kaleiya Romero (San Jose, Calif.) is tied for 50th with a 152 (76-76). She finished with two birdies and an eagle in the rounds today.
- Sophomore Yingzhi Zhu (Nanjing, China) posted a 154 (80-74) to tie for 62nd. She tallied two birdies in the second round.
