Waves Travel North for Two Meets This Weekend

MALIBU, Calif. - The track team will go on the road this weekend, splitting up between the Stanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Track Classic on Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30, respectively.

The Stanford invitational will begin at 9:00 Friday with availability to watch the meet live on FloTrack behind a paywall. Just outside San Francisco in Hayward, Calif., the Mike Fanelli Track Classic will begin at 9:00 a.m. with Pepperdine's first event at 1:35 p.m.

Kicking things off at 1:35 p.m. for Pepperdine, Dominic Silhol and Hannah Bruner highlight nine Waves between the men and women in the 1,500-meter run.

Gordon Nilsen and Megan La Camera are among four other Pepperdine runners in the 5,000-meter run. La Camera will look to set a personal best time and move up in the Waves' all-time records; her personal best time of 17:41.43 is the fourth-fastest in school history. l

Rounding out the short-distance runs will be 11 Waves running the 800-meter dash. Among them is Ryan Hemphill who is the current school record holder with a time of 1:49.45.

For the long distance runners, Johnathan Flint, Patrick Thomas, and Dominic Silhol will participate in the mile run while Elle Shrader will make her debut in the 10,000-meter run.

Two individuals and one relay team for the Waves will compete at the Stanford Invitational this weekend. Kaley Peterson will be running the 100-meter dash while Brendan Fong will participate in the men's 400-meter dash, as he looks to improve on his school record for a third time this year. There will also be a 4x400 meter relay on the men's side to close out the day.
