SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's golf team put in a solid day of work at The Goodwin on Thursday, finishing the first round of the tournament played at the par-70, 7,193-yard TPC Harding Park in fifth-place and only two shots out of the lead.

Sophomore Mahanth Chirravuri is leading the Waves, having shot a 3-under 67 to sit tied for second after 18-holes.  As a team, the Waves are two strokes behind the three teams tied for first – Stanford, Tennessee and Georgia – and one shot back from BYU.

The Waves will tee off of the first tee at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning, paired with Oregon State and Washington State – two teams that will join the West Coast Conference as affiliates next year – as well as Colorado.

PLAYER SCORES

• Sophomore Mahanth Chirravuri (Chandler, Ariz.) is tied for second after shooting a 3-under 67 and stands just one stroke behind first-place.  He started the day with a birdie, though it evened out on the 12^th.  He then went 2-under through the next seven holes.  He finished his round with another 2-under through seven holes for five birdies on the day.
• Freshman William Walsh (San Mateo, Calif.) is tied for 21^st with an even 70 on the day.  He shot 3-under through the back nine, though things evened out on the front. 
• Freshman Kristoffer Kuvaas (Houston, Texas) shot a 1-over 71 in the round to finish tied for 28^th.  He had two birdies on the day.
• Sophomore Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif.) is tied for 68^th with a 3-over 73.  He birdied his first hole of the day.
• Sophomore Joshua Koo (Cerritos, Calif.) shot a 7-over to tie for 151^st. He had two birdies today.
