FRESNO, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's golf team got things underway at Copper River Country Club on Monday morning, nearly completing two full rounds at the Fresno State Classic before play was suspended late into the second round.
 
Play will pick back up tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start where the players left off today.  Round three will be continued directly after the second. The Waves were through holes 17-18.
 
Pepperdine shot a 6-over 293 in the first round, which was good for fifth-place at the time.  The squad is currently 15-over overall, having shot 9-over thus far in the second round, and in seventh-place.  The Waves are only two shots out of the top-five, as Sacramento State, Washington State and Rutgers are all tied for fourth.  Colorado State has the lead, having shot 1-under through 15-17 in the second round. The Rams had the best first round of the day, 4-under, leading tournament host Fresno State by one stroke.  

Lauren Gomez and Kaleiya Romero are both in the top-20, led by Gomez's 12^th-place.  She had the best first round of the day for the Waves with a 71 to open the tournament.
 
PLAYER SCORES

• Junior Lauren Gomez (Murrieta, Calif.) is tied for 12^th with a finalized two round score of 145 (71-74).  She had three birdies on the day and was solid on par scoring.  She started out the round with nine bogeyless holes on the front, going 1-under.  Thought she posted a bogey on 10, she shot 1-under through the final eight holes to finish strong.  The second was similar with a 1-under through the first seven holes.  She struggled on eight and nine, but rallied to stay even on the back through the final nine.
• Senior Kaleiya Romero (San Jose, Calif.) is tied for 16^th with a 146 (73-73).  She posted six birdies throughout the day, including five in the first round alone.  Though she had some back-and-forth through the first round, she had a string of three-consecutive birdies from holes 14 to 16 and finished 1-over in the first round.  She started the second with 1-under through the first six holes, but bogeys on the seventh and 17^th had her 1-over in that round as well.
• Sophomore Jeneath Wong (Melbourne, Australia) is tied for 27^th and through 17 holes in the second round.  She posted one birdie on hole 12 in the opening round and went 1-under through eight holes from the end of the first and beginning of the second.  She added an additional two birdies on the back and will start the final day of action tomorrow 2-over in the round.
• Senior Lion Higo (Gold Coast, Australia) is tied for 64^th after having shot 8-over today.  She posted a 4-over 76 in the opening round and finished the day with four birdies.
• Sophomore Yingzhi Zhu (Nanjing, China) is tied for 77^th.  After posting a 77 in the opening round, she will open the final round 5-over in the round and 10-over overall.  She marked one birdie.
