TEMPE, Ariz. — Completing day four of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest Regionals, the Pepperdine men's tennis team saw Linus Carlsson Halldin reach the singles quarterfinals before falling in straight sets on Sunday.
Carlsson Halldin earned a spot in the quarterfinals on Sunday morning with a 6-4, 7-6 (10) straight-set victory over UC Irvine's Hiroki Sakagawa for his third win of the tournament. The senior captain leads all Waves with eight singles victories this season. In the next round, he was beaten in straight sets by UCLA's Emon Van Loben Sels, 6-0, 6-1.
With that result, the Waves have wrapped up their time in the main draws of this tournament. The next opportunity to earn NCAA postseason bids will be at the ITA Sectional Championships, held at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu from Nov. 7-10.
