Pepperdine's Dvorak Named to USA Volleyball Squad

MALIBU, Calif. — Pepperdine setter Bryce Dvorak, a two-time All-American, has been named to the USA Volleyball team that is currently competing at the NORCECA Pan American Cup Final Six.
 
The tournament began yesterday on September 19 and will run through September 24 at the Flair Airlines Hangar, Edmonton Expo Centre in Edmonton, Canada.  The five teams competing with the Americans are Canada, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
 
Team USA started the tournament with a pair of sweeps over the Dominican Republic and Mexico the last two days.  The round-robin preliminary round will finish on Saturday, Sept. 23.  The top two teams will compete for the gold medal on Sunday, Sept. 24, while the third and fourth will play for the bronze medal, and the fifth and sixth place teams will play for fifth.

Dvorak (Newport Beach, Calif.) enters his senior season with the Waves and has made quite an impact on the program the last three years.  Along with his two All-American honors, he has garnered All-MPSF second team acclaim three times.  He was named AVCA's Newcomer of the Year in 2021 and was the MPSF Tournament MVP in 2022.  Dvorak ranks fifth all-time at Pepperdine in aces/set (0.39), seventh in assists (3,003) and eighth in assists/set (10.39) after his junior campaign. 
 
Throughout his career, he has averaged 10.39 assists, 0.39 aces and 1.36 digs per set.  Last season alone, he marked 10.67 assists, 0.35 aces and 1.37 digs per set.  He ranked second nationally in assists/set and 36th nationally in aces/set, while having led the team to an eighth-place final ranking with a team 0.326 hitting percentage.
 
Pepperdine went 16-14 overall last season, finishing #10 in the AVCA national coaches poll and fifth in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
