MALIBU, Calif. – No. 6 Pepperdine men's volleyball team's (17-4, 8-0 MPSF)
Ryan Barnett won the AVCA National Player of the Week for his performance at No. 9 BYU this past weekend.
Adding onto his MPSF accolade this week of Offensive Player of the Week, the New York native earned Pepperdine's second national weekly honor of the season, announced this morning by the AVCA.
Barnett set a new career high Saturday with 20 kills, hitting .558 between the two matches, averaging near 5.0 points per set. On the defensive side, Barnett tallied nine digs while having a hand in five blocks. This is the second National Player of the Week honor for the redshirt senior, last earning it in the final week of the regular season last season as he led the Waves to an MPSF Championship.
Slated as one to watch for the AVCA National Player of the Year, Barnett is second on the team in kills per set at 4.33, hitting a team-high average of .371 (minimum 100 kills).
