MALIBU, Calif. — For the 39th time in program history, the Pepperdine men's tennis team heard its name called during the NCAA Tournament selection show on Monday. The Waves will head to Austin, Texas to face UTSA in the first round.
The first-round matchup against the #41 UTSA Roadrunners will take place on Saturday, May 6 at 8 a.m. PT. Should Pepperdine beat UTSA, it will play the winner of the top-seeded Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Sunday, May 7, at 11 a.m. PT.
This year marks the third-straight season the Waves (18-8, 8-1 WCC) have made the postseason. The squad looks to improve on last year, in which the Waves fell in the second round to 10-seed South Carolina.
Last weekend, Pepperdine earned an at-large berth by sweeping San Diego 4-0 in the West Coast Conference Championships — the program's first conference title in 10 years and the first under the guidance of head coach
Adam Schaechterle.
