NAPA, Calif. – The #26 Pepperdine women's golf team got things underway at the Chevron Silverado Showdown on Monday, finishing the opening round in eighth with a 301 at the par-72, 6,146-yard Silverado Resort North Course.
Jeneath Wong is tied for seventh to lead the Waves, having shot 1-under to open the tournament. Pepperdine leads #24 Ohio State by 5-strokes and #22 Arizona by 9-strokes, while the Waves are 2-strokes behind #8 Oregon and 3-strokes behind #6 San Jose State. #16 Northwestern has an 8-stroke lead after the first round.
PLAYER SCORES
- Freshman Jeneath Wong (Melbourne, Australia) is tied for 7th with a first-round score of 71 (-1). She marked three birdies in the opening round.
- Junior Kaleiya Romero (San Jose, Calif.) is tied for 25th after finishing the round with a 3-over 75.
- Sophomore Lauren Gomez (Murrieta, Calif.) is tied for 46th with a 77 (+5).
- Junior Lion Higo (Gold Coast, Australia) shot a 6-over 78 to finish the day tied for 56th. She had three birdies in the round.
- Senior Reese Guzman (Kahului, Hawai'i) finished tied for 91st with an 85 (+13).
