MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine baseball team is heading back to Northern California for its next West Coast Conference three-game series against Pacific beginning on Friday, April 21 and concluding on Sunday, April 23.

SERIES VS. PACIFIC: The Waves have the overall series lead against the Tigers 24-16. Pepperdine has won eight out of the last 12 meetings dating back to the 2018 season, including a three-game series sweep last season at Eddy D. Field Stadium.
LAST GAMES: For the second weekend in a row, Pepperdine collected another 2-1 WCC series win, this time against San Francisco at Benedetti Diamond. In game one, the Waves fell 5-1 to the Dons. Pepperdine and USF were in a pitching duel for the first three innings, but the Dons broke it open in the bottom of the fourth and the Waves were unable to get the bats going.
Charles Masino hit his first home run of the season, which was his third career HR and had one stolen base.

Nolan Lingley each hit a double.
Pepperdine bounced back in game two and downed San Francisco 8-5. The Waves and Dons were scoreless after the first inning. Pepperdine took the lead in the top of the second 2-0, but San Francisco cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the second. The Waves were able to extend the lead to 5-1, although the Dons tied it in the bottom half of the sixth with four runs.
Jack Basseer roped a go-ahead solo blast in the top of the eighth inning to make it 6-5 and the momentum stayed in favor of the Waves as they added two insurance runs in the top of the ninth.
Connor Bradshaw was 3-for-4 including a double and a two-run home run. Bradshaw tied his career-high in RBI with three.
Charles Masino was also 3-for-4 including a solo home run, a walk and crossed the plate twice. Masino also hit a home run in game one and this is the first time in his career to have two consecutive games with a homer.
Jack Basseer was 2-for-3 including a double, a home run and two RBI. This is the second time this season Basseer has hit a double and home run in the same game.
Zach Chonkich threw 1.2 innings in relief to collect his first career win as a Wave. Chonkich only allowed two hits, a walk and struck out a career-high three batters.
Jack Baird threw 2.0 innings in relief allowing only two hits and striking out two Dons' hitters to earn his fourth save of the season.
Pepperdine defeated San Francisco in the rubber match 9-6 to collect the series victory. The Waves scored first in the first two innings over the Dons to take a 4-0 lead. Pepperdine held San Francisco scoreless in seven of the nine innings played, though the Dons scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to get within three, 9-6.
John Peck was 4-for-5 including a double and two RBI. Peck's four hits tied his career-high. He also scored one run and had a stolen base.
Grant Schoen was 2-for-5 including his second home run of the season, which was a three-run shot. Shoen had four RBI, which tied his career-high and crossed the plate twice.
Jack Basseer was 3-for-5 including two doubles.
Gunnar Nichols threw 3.2 innings and struck out three Dons'. Nichols' three strikeouts tied his career-high.
Nick Bonn threw 2.0 innings in relief and collected his second win of the season. Bonn tied his career-high in strikeouts with three.
Jack Baird threw 1.0 innings to collect his fifth save of the season.
In a midweek contest against UC Santa Barbara, the Waves walked it off in the bottom of the 10th inning to defeat the Gauchos 4-2.
John Peck hit a two-run walk off homer. The Waves fell behind in the top of the second inning, 1-0, to the Gauchos, but answered in the bottom of the third to tie the game. Pepperdine grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fourth, on a Peck home run, but UC Santa Barbara tied the game in the top of the sixth at an even 2-all. Both squads were scoreless for the final three scheduled innings of play to force the extra inning. Each squad won a midweek contest on their home turf. Peck was 3-for-5 including two home runs and three RBI. This was the first time Peck has hit two homers in a game since his freshman season (3/19/21 at USF).
Quintt Landis was 2-for-4 and
Connor Bradshaw hit his third home run of the season.
Dylan MacCallum threw 2.0 innings in relief and struck out a career-high three batters.
Zach Chonkich threw 1.0 innings in relief to collect his second win of the season.
RECORD WATCHIN': Ryan Johnson currently has 31 career home runs and is in sole possession of fourth on the Pepperdine career all-time. The current school record in career home runs is 45 and held by Dane Sardinha (1998-00). On the season, Johnson has hit 12 home runs and needs two more to tie for 10th all-time on the single season home runs list.
HONORS: Ryan Johnson notched the season's first West Coast Conference weekly honors for the Pepperdine baseball team when he was named Player of the Week on March 6. He batted a .571 and had an 11 RBI week, while posting back-to-back games with two home runs and five RBI to tie a career-high in RBI. In four appearances last week, Johnson only had two strikeouts and scored seven runs. He ended the week with five homers and a double.
Shane Telfer earned the second West Coast Conference weekly honors for Pepperdine as he was named the Pitcher of the Week on March 27. He threw 6.0 scoreless innings against Gonzaga in the series-opening 15-0 victor en route to his third win of the season. Telfer held the Bulldogs to only two hits and five walks, while earning eight strikeouts, two shy from his career-high.
John Peck collected the third West Coast Conference weekly honors for the Waves being named Player of the Week on April 10. In four games, Peck batted a .550, had a slugging percentage of .850 and helped Pepperdine go 3-1 last week. On April 4 against Cal Poly, Peck was 3-for-5 including a double and two triples. His two triples against the Mustangs was the first time this season he hit two in one game and the second time in his career. In game one of the WCC series against Saint Mary's, Peck was 4-for-5 and scored three runs for the Waves. He also had two hits in game two, brought in two runs and stole a base against the Gaels. On Sunday, in the rubber match, Peck again had two hits versus Saint Mary's including a double.
WCC LEADERS: The Waves rank top-five in multiple categories on the WCC leaderboards. Pepperdine is second in runs scored (220), second in RBI (203), fourth in hits (304), tied for fourth in home runs (35) and fifth in slugging percentage (.416).
Pepperdine also has multiple Waves in the top-20 in WCC stats.
Ryan Johnson is tied for first in the conference in home runs (12), ranks third in on-base percentage (.472), fifth in slugging percentage (.684), eighth in RBI (29) and 18th in batting average (.322).
Jack Basseer is 11th in the WCC in batting average (.333).
John Peck is tied for eighth in stolen bases (eight), tied for 13th in home runs (five) and 17th in RBI (24).
Lincoln Orellana is 11th in the conference in on-base percentage (.431).
Greg Mehlhaff is 19th in RBI (23). On the pitching side,
Shane Telfer is second in the WCC in ERA (2.94), tied for second in wins (four) and sixth in strikeouts (47).
Jack Baird is third on the leaderboard in saves (five).
OFFENSIVE STREAKS: John Peck leads the Waves in a reached base streak with 18 straight games.
Lincoln Orellana has the second longest reached base streak with 15 games.
Jack Basseer has reached base in 14 straight games.
