Waves Tied for the Lead at Anuenue Spring Break Classic

LAHAINA, Hawai'i – The #25 Pepperdine women's golf team had a stellar day on the par-72, 6,013-yard Kā'anapali Golf Course on Tuesday, posting an 11-under in the final round to move up one spot and tie Denver for the lead.

The Waves have a two-day score of 561 (284-277).  The second-round team score ranks fourth in the Pepperdine women's golf program history for lowest 18-hole score, a feat which had been achieved last in 2011.  The program record stands at 270 (-18), which was achieved in the fall of 2008 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.

To help Pepperdine move into the top-spot, four Waves finished the day in the top-25, led by Lion Higo who is tied for fourth, having shot 6-under overall.  Senior Reese Guzman had an impressive second round, finishing with a career-best 67, having posted five birdies without a single bogey in the round.  Freshman Yingzhi Zhu tied her career-best 18-hole low with a 69 as well.  Zhu and Guzman head into the third and final round tomorrow in sixth and eighth place respectively.

The Waves are tied with Denver, who is also 15-under overall, while sitting eight-strokes above UCLA (-7) in third.  There are 14 teams competing in the tournament and 80 individuals.
