SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The #18 Pepperdine beach volleyball team made quick work of both San Francisco and Santa Clara to open the West Coast Challenge at Main Beach on Saturday. The Waves swept both opponents throughout the day, winning nine-of-10 matches in straight sets.
Pepperdine's (10-3) No. 2 pair,
Kate Clermont and
Savannah Standage, improved their record to 12-1 with the two wins. The Waves on court four,
Gabriella Perez and
Gracey Campbell also entered double-digit win territory with their victories today, advancing their record to 11-2.
With the pair of wins, the Waves will be placed in the gold bracket for tomorrow's matches. Pepperdine is set to take on Saint Mary's for their opener at 10 a.m.

MATCH RECAPS
All courts played at the same time throughout both matches and the Waves were out of the starting gates quickly in the first, commanding the sweep with two-set wins on all five courts.
Jordan Benoit and
Mari Wright dominated their opponents 21-7, 21-9 in the No. 3 position to tab the first point of the day, while
Kristine Briede and
Madison Oriskovich continued on with a 21-8, 21-11 win on court five to put the Waves in a position to clinch.
On court two,
Savannah Standage and
Kate Clermont continued with winning ways, putting down their opposing Dons with a. 21-15, 21-10 result to clinch the victory for Pepperdine.
The squad wasn't done yet, however, as both No. 4 freshmen duo
Gracey Campbell and
Gabriella Perez and No. 1 pair
McKenna Thomas and
Alexus McLeod won on their courts, with a pair of 21-14 sets on court four and a 21-16, 21-14 win on court one.
Juju Quintero and
Aubrey Roberts also played the No. 6 pair from Saint Mary's during the match, winning in two sets.
In the second matchup against Santa Clara, Pepperdine continued with another strong performance beginning with a 21-17, 21-16 win from Campbell and Perez in the No. 4 position to put the Waves on the board early. Briede and Oriskovich then collected on a 21-12, 21-11 win in the No. 5 slot to put the squad closer to victory.
Standage and Clermont would do the honors, marking a 21-18, 21-12 win in the No. 2 position to clinch the match.
Jasmin Suarez and
Gracie Pedersen put in some Waves Work in the No. 3 position as well, posting 24-22 and 21-10 set scores to put the squad at 4-0. Thomas and McLeod closed things out with a three-set victory in the top spot, splitting the opening sets 21-16, 18-21 before winning 15-12 to close the match with another Pepperdine sweep.
Emi Erickson and
Chase Curry also played in the No. 6 position, winning their match as well.
