Waves to Compete in Two Meets at UCLA

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's and women's track teams are back in action for two meets on Friday and Saturday at UCLA.

On Friday, March 24, half of the Pepperdine men's and women's track teams will compete in the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival hosted by UCLA. The meet will take place at Drake Stadium with events beginning at 5 p.m. The Waves will have runners in both the men's and women's 1,500m, the 5,000m and Skyler Danley (Easton, Pa./Easton Area HS) will compete in the women's 10,000m.

On Saturday, March 25, the entire Pepperdine men's and women's track teams will compete in the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Collegiate hosted by UCLA. Saturday's meet will also be held in the Drake Stadium with running events beginning at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME RUNNING

Pepperdine's last time out on the track was two weeks prior at the AstroAI Distance Classic in Fullerton, Calif., and the Oxy Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic in Los Angeles. The Waves continued to collect multiple top-10 finishes and Ryan Fabian, Johnathan Flint and Danley all notched spots on the Pepperdine all-time lists.

On Friday, March 10, at the AstroAI Distance Carnival hosted by Cal State Fullerton, junior Flint (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS) ran in the men's 10,000 meters crossing the finish line at 30:26.81. That mark was good for ninth overall and moved him from fourth to second on the Pepperdine all-time list. Graduate student Will Bullock (Marrieta, Ga./Kennesaw Mountain HS/Eastern Illinois) also ran at Fullerton in the men's 10,000m clocking in at 32:41.42.

On Saturday, March 11, at the Oxy Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic, freshman Fabian (Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard HS), competed in the men's 800 meters with a fifth overall finish in a time of 1:53.25, which also moved him fifth all-time to third on the Pepperdine all-time list.

Senior Danley competed in the women's 5,000m coming in at a time of 18:20.78, which is a new personal record and keeps her name 10th on the Pepperdine all-time list.

Sophomore Kaley Peterson (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis HS), freshmen Jenna Parsio (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro HS), Isabella Reyes (Caldwell, Idaho) and Mia Skuraton (Mendham, N.J./Perkiomen School) posted a third-place overall finish in a time of 48.90 in the women's 4x100 meter relay. Parsio had the Waves' fastest time in the women's 400 meters, earning a fourth-place overall finish in a time of 1:01.20.

Junior William Watkins (Mill Valley, Calif./Marin Catholic HS) crossed the finish line in the men's 400 meters in a time of 50.56 for sixth-place. Peterson was in the women's 100m, coming in at 12.32 with a fourth-place overall finish.

The Waves' women competed in the 4x400 meter, with Peterson, sophomore Whitney Johnson (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Mission Viejo HS), Skuraton and Parsio having notched a second-place overall finish in a time of 4:08.76.

Sophomore Kira Graves (Duarte, Calif./Arcadis HS) had the women's fastest time in the 800m at 2:27.15. Freshman Spencer Mueller (Fresno, Calif./Clovis North HS) had a ninth-place finish in the men's 800m in a time of 1:55.75.

Senior Olivia Miller (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles HS) had an eighth-place finish in the women's 1,500m in a time of 4:44.31. Junior Ryan Hemphill (Visalia, Calif./Redwood)) collected a time of 4:02.66 in the men's 1,500m. In the final race of the night for the Waves, freshman Patrick Thomas (Paso Robles, Calif./Mission College Prep) had the men's fastest time in the 5,000m, clocking in at 15:11.85.
