PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – After a windy and chilly second round at the Palos Verdes Golf Club, the Pepperdine women's golf team is currently in 12
th at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge presented by Northrop Grumman.
The Waves shot 15-over in the round to have a two-day total of 23-over 591 (292-299). Pepperdine is five strokes ahead of Florida and eight in front of SMU, trailing UCLA by only three and Illinois by four. The Waves are only six shots out of 7
th, where #6 Texas, #15 Arizona and #24 Kentucky are after two rounds.
PLAYER SCORES
- Junior Lion Higo (Gold Coast, Australia) and sophomore Lauren Gomez (Murrieta, Calif.) are each tied for 28th. Higo had a team-best 72 (+1) in her second round, while both Waves have amassed a two-round total of 147.
- Junior Kaleiya Romero (San Jose, Calif.) is one stroke behind her teammates with a two-day total of 148 to tie for 36th.
- Freshmen Jeneath Wong (Melbourne, Australia) and Yingzhi Zhu (Nanjing, China) are tied 42nd and 71st respectively. Wong shot 3-over in her second round to finish with a two-day total of 149.
- Pepperdine has shot for par second-most of all competitors, having done so on 113 collective holes, led by Wong with 26 after 36 holes of golf.
UP NEXT
Tomorrow, Pepperdine will be paired with UCLA, Illinois and Kentucky for Tuesday's third and final round. The shotgun start will begin at 8:15 a.m. on holes 11-15 in the following order: Higo, Gomez, Romero, Wong, Zhu.
