Wynalda Named WCC Offensive Player of the Week

SOUTH SAN FRANCSICO, Calif.  – After leading Pepperdine with two goals against San Diego last Friday, Pepperdine sophomore Tatum Wynalda was named the West Coast Conference's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The weekly award is not only Wynalda's second of the year, but also the fourth time a Wave has won the conference's offensive player of the week award this season.

Wynalda (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake HS) scored two goals — including her first career game-winner — and added an assist to lead Pepperdine in its 7-0 road win over San Diego last Friday night. Her brace against San Diego was her second career multi-goal game and her five shots tied her career high. Currently, the sophomore's six goals rank 10th in the WCC.

Gonzaga goalkeeper Lauren Towne was the conference's defensive player of the week award winner for shutting out #15 Santa Clara on Sunday.

This week, Wynalda and the Waves are back in action at San Francisco on Wednesday at 6 p.m. before wrapping up the regular season with a pivotal game against Gonzaga on Saturday, Nov. 4 at noon.
